Ford Issues 3 Recalls

Ford Motor Corp. recently announced that they’re initiating 3 separate recalls covering approximately 221,000 vehicles in the United States. Currently, no car accidents or injuries have been linked to these defective autos. However, two under-hood fires have been reported.

The vehicles covered in these Ford recalls include:

  • 2011-2013 Ford Explorer SUVs and Ford Police Interceptor Unity vehicles
  • 2013-2015 Lincoln MKT limousine and hearse vehicles
  • 2011-2013 Ford F-series Super Duty ambulance vehicles and 2014-2015 ambulance and emergency vehicles

The recall involving the Ford Explorer vehicles was initiated to correct a problem where interior door handles can come unhatched during a side-impact car accident, minimizing the side-impact protection provided to passengers. The Lincoln recall involves a defective vacuum pump relay that may lead to an under-hood fire. The F-series ambulance recall addresses a defective exhaust temperature sensor that gives a false high-temperature reading when it malfunctions.
